Kernels sweep double-header at Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. - The Cedar Rapids Kernels swept a pair of games from the Beloit Snappers on Saturday, 5-2 and 3-2 in nine innings.
Cedar Rapids is a season-high eight games over .500 at 19-11. They finished this road trip with a perfect 6-0 record.
After Sunday off, the team returns home Monday night to host Peoria.
Zack Larson had three hits, and Max Murphy two hits and three runs scored in Game 1 for the Kernels. Pat Kelly and Brett Doe each drove in a pair of runs, Doe on a two-run home run.
Michael Cederoth (1-2) won for the first time this seeason, with a solid six innings of starting pitching. Cam Booser notched his third save.
Kelly had an RBI single in the top of the ninth to give the Kernels the winning run. Larson scored after reaching on an infield single and going to second on a subsequent throwing error.
Trevor Hildenberger worked around a leadoff walk in the bottom of the ninth inning, striking out two and allowing no hits for his third save. Zack Tillery got the win in relief.
