CEDAR RAPIDS - The parent Minnesota Twins announced Monday that Cedar Rapids Kernels relief pitcher Brandon Peterson has been promoted to high-Class A Fort Myers of the Florida State League.
Peterson was stellar in his nine appearances for the Kernels, going 1-0 with three saves and a 0.71 earned run average. In 12 2/3 innings, he allowed nine hits and struck out 19.
The right-hander is a Twin Cities native who pitched collegiately at Wichita State. The Twins did not immediately replace Peterson, meaning the Kernels have 24 active players, one under maximum.
The team played Monday night at Quad Cities.
The affiliate switch to the Minnesota Twins has afforded new merchandising opportunities for the Cedar Rapids Kernels as the old Angels logo is fading away from Veterans Memorial Stadium. ¬ Photo taken Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013 in Cedar Rapids. (Chris Earl/The Gazette-KCRG)
