PEORIA, Ill. - Four Peoria pitchers combined on a four-hit shutout in a 1-0 win Monday night over the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Dozer Park.
Matt Pearce was the starter and threw six innings, giving up three hits to improve his season record to 11-10. Steve Sabatino and Nick Frey went the next two innings, with Kyle Grana throwing a perfect ninth for the save.
Kernels starting pitcher Felix Jorge (6-7) was the tough-luck loser. He allowed an unearned run and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Austin Diemer had two of C.R.'s four hits. The Kernels (73-60, 32-31) and Chiefs (72-59, 39-24) play the rubber game of their three-game series Tuesday night.
