Kernels done in again by late Kane County rally

GENEVA, Ill. - Another late-inning rally gave the Cedar Rapids Kernels another tough loss at Kane County.
The Cougars scored twice in the seventh inning and came from behind for a 4-2 win Monday afternoon. Kane County is 16-2 in the Midwest League's second half, winning three of four games in this series.
Ildemaro Vargas hit a walk-off, two-run, pinch-hit home run to beat the Kernels on Sunday. He walked with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh to put his team ahead Monday, 3-2.
Randy LeBlanc (6-2) allowed three runs in two innings and took the loss.
Cedar Rapids (52-37, 11-8) scored in the first on an error. It took a 2-1 lead in the top of the seventh when Nick Gordon doubled home Tanner English.
Gordon has a 13-game hitting streak.
The Kernels have Tuesday off for the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, then begins a three-game home series Wednesday night at 6:35 against Burlington.
