It's summer in Iowa, and for the first time in a few years, it's really feeling like it.
Here's a look at what to expect this weekend and into next week, according to KCRG-TV9 First Alert Storm Team meteorologist Kaj O'Mara:
- Heat advisory for Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Temperatures will be in the lower 90's and dew points will be in the mid to upper 70's. The heat index is expected to reach at least 100 to 105.
- There's also a chance of rain and thunderstorms late Saturday night into early Sunday, as a round of storms move in from the northwest.
- Some more unsettled weather for Monday and Tuesday.
- Typical July heat building in starting next Wednesday and running through next Friday, with highs in the upper 80s and lower 90s throughout.
Sounds like good weather for a trip to the pool or the beach.
