An air ambulance rushed a Kalona man to the hospital Wednesday after he struck a tractor while riding his motorcycle, authorities said.
David T. Hubbard, 42, was west of Riverside on Highway 22 around 3:30 p.m. when he collided with the tractor, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Troopers said Hubbard had tried to pass the tractor and lost control when he realized the tractor was turning left into a farm drive.
Witnesses said they heard squealing rubber and then saw a man on a motorcycle near a tractor and baler. Riverside first responders and Washington County Ambulance services responded to the scene.
Hubbard was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City with serious injuries. His medical condition was not being released Thursday morning.
The driver of the tractor, Larry R. Tener, 57, of Riverside, was not injured.
Troopers said an investigation is continuing.
