CEDAR RAPIDS - A Hopkinton woman was convicted of conspiring to manufacturing methamphetamine and other charges by a jury after only 90 minutes of deliberation on Friday.
Lisa Ann Davis, 48, was convicted of conspiring to manufacture meth, aiding and abetting the manufacture and attempting to manufacture meth and possession of pseudoephedrine with intent to manufacture meth.
Testimony during the two day trial showed Davis was conspiring to manufacture meth for about five years with her husband, Jody Davis, 46. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempting to manufacture and aiding and abetting the manufacture of meth on June 20.
Evidence at trial showed Davis purchased about three boxes of pseudoephedrine per month from August 2010 to June 2015 to manufacture meth. She also purchased methamphetamine supplies from various retail stores throughout Eastern Iowa.
On June 20, the Delaware County Sherriff's Office executed a search warrant at Davis's home and found Davis in her kitchen surrounded by meth making materials, evidence showed. Police found a pie dish in a microwave and a tube used to snort meth in a kitchen cabinet, which tested positive for meth.
Davis faces up to 20 years on each count for a total of up to 60 years on all charges in federal prison. She also faces a $2.2 million fine.
The case was prosecuted by assistant U.S. Attorneys Tim Vavricek, Erin Eldridge, and C.J. Williams. The case was investigated by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, the Iowa Office of Drug Control Policy, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Crime Lab.
