Johnson County deputies are investigating a trio of car break-ins in Oxford and Tiffin.
According to Lt. Gary Kramer, owners of two vehicles in Oxford and one in Tiffin reported break-ins Friday night. The window of Amy Sproud's Volkswagen Jetta was smashed with a brick and items inside were stolen, including her purse. Sproud said she was surprised, since she considers Oxford to be a very safe town, she said.
"They're both fairly quiet," Kramer said of Oxford and Tiffin.
Another vehicle, registered to an owner in Tiffin, had damage to the dashboard, and a Chevrolet Impala was also a point of interest, Kramer said. He said information wasn't available on whether items were taken from the two cars.
"We do believe there's a good likelihood that they're linked," Kramer said of the crimes, noting that when deputies receive criminal reports in less populated areas, a series of related crimes are typically seen committed by one or a group of individuals.
Anyone with information regarding the incidents is asked to contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office tip line, at 319-354-3729.
