Johnson County chapter of National Alliance for Mental Health hosts open house

IOWA CITY - The Johnson County chapter of the National Alliance for Mental Illness hosts a public open house from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday in R Place Peer Recovery Center, 10 E. Benton St. in Iowa City.
The event is part of national Mental Health Awareness Week.
The facility is a recovery center for adults with mental illnesses and utilizes rest, renewal and recreation, among other techniques.
The center has 'drop in” style service from 1 to 5 p.m. on weekdays and offers support groups, peer support specialists and mindfulness activities, among other services.
