Thursday's rainfall pushed Cedar Rapids to a new record for October precipitation.
KCRG-TV9's Kaj O'Mara says Cedar Rapids received 1.65 inches of rain from the front that moved through Thursday into Friday morning. (Iowa City got 1.91 inches from the same front, Dubuque 1.82 inches.)
As a result, a new October rainfall record was established yesterday. Cedar Rapids has now received 6.28 inches of rain in October in official readings at The Eastern Iowa Airport, breaking the old October record of 5.68 inches set in October 1960.
Waterloo also has a new October record, with 5.83 inches for the month, breaking the old record of 5.71 inches set in October 1997.
But we're essentially done with precipitation, at least for the time being, O'Mara says. The forecast for Saturday calls for a breezy high of 49 degrees, dropping to around 40 by Halloween trick-or-treating time. Sunday and Monday should see highs in the 50s, with lows in the mid-30s.
