Iowa State Penitentiary inmate dies

An Iowa State Penitentiary Clinical Care Unit inmate serving a life sentence for seven counts of murder has died in prison.
According to the Iowa Department of Corrections, Adam Matthew Moss, 35, hanged himself with a bed sheet.
Prison staff found Moss unresponsive in his cell at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities said an emergency was immediately announced and health services and additional security staff immediately responded. It was determind that Moss was already deceased.
The Lee County Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death to be asphyxia due to suffocation. An autopsy will be conducted.
Moss had been serving a life sentence out of Woodbury County since Sept. 25, 2001.
