The Iowa State Patrol will be losing its Ottumwa office in April.
The closure, announced Thursday, is part of an effort to consolidate patrol resources and reduce expenses, according to a statement from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
Patrol Chief Col. Patrick Hoye said Ottumwa's is the second district office to be consolidated, and the move will save roughly $125,000 a year.
Other patrol districts will pick up responsibility for the areas served by the closing station. Marion, Monroe and Appanoose counties will be served by troopers out of the Osceola station, while Keokuk, Mahaska, Wapello and Davis counties will be handled by troopers out of the Mount Pleasant offices.
