(AP) - The day after he lost re-election as Iowa's secretary of state, police say Democrat Michael Mauro's Des Moines home was ransacked and burglarized.
The Des Moines Register reports that police were called to Mauro's home Wednesday afternoon. Police say Mauro came home and found the front door was forced open. A laptop computer, comforter and pillows were among the items stolen. A police report shows intruders tried to remove a flat-screen television.
Officers found clothes pulled from dressers.
Police say they have no suspects and no witnesses. The 62-year-old Mauro lost Tuesday's general election to Republican Matt Schultz.
