After 32 years, the Iowa Mennonite Relief Sale is still going strong.
Sponsored by the Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches in Iowa, the Iowa Mennonite Sale provided an opportunity for individuals to purchase homemade goods and enjoy homemade food while helping to raise money to support people in need all over the world.
This year's event will be held at the Johnson County Fairgrounds beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and run through Saturday afternoon. All proceeds from the sale benefit Mennonite Central Committee, a relief, service and peace agency.
Activities for this year's event range from a quilt auction with over 90 quilts to be sold, to handmade crafts furniture, meals hosted in homes, flowering and bedding plants and children's activities.
"Come to enjoy live music Friday evening, sit down to the marinated chicken breast or smoked pork loin dinners on Friday night and the all-you-can eat breakfast on Saturday morning; taste freshly prepared foods such as strawberry pie and apples fritters; and purchase packaged beef and pork from area farmers," a press release said.
