Edward Branstad, the father of Gov. Terry Branstad, died this morning in Mason City.
The elder Branstad, who farmed near Leland in northern Iowa, died after “a long, hard-fought battle with cancer,” the governor said in a statement Friday.
“My father taught me the value of hard work, and instilled in me the values that guide me each day,” Gov. Branstad said.
A visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Waldorf College, Salveson Hall, in Forest City.
The funeral will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Waldorf College auditorium in Forest City. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery in Leland.
Gov. Branstad's mother, Rita, died in 1990 of a heart attack. She was 64.
