Iowa City woman faces numerous financial, theft charges

An Iowa City woman faces a slew of charges, including for theft, burglary and forgery, for a series of alleged transgressions this fall.
Lauren N. Craig, 29, of 929 Iowa Ave. Apt. 9, was arrested Thursday on seven warrants for third-degree burglary, third-degree theft, fourth-degree theft and forgery.
Police officers pulled her over Thursday in a vehicle that matched a description of one associated with a burglary reported earlier in the day. She also was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated for allegedly smoking marijuana.
Craig was being held in Johnson County Jail this morning on a $55,000 cash-only bond.
Several criminal complaints accuse Craig of a series of alleged crimes dating to Aug. 30:
- Taking a wallet containing $350 cash left on a counter at Money and More of Iowa City, 1025 S. Riverside Dr., on Aug. 30
- Entering an Iowa City home and taking a personal check and then forging the victim's name and cashing it for $323, on Sept. 21
- Cashing two more forged checks, for $472 and $427, on Sept. 22
- Forging another stolen check and cashing it for $330, on Sept. 30.
- Burglarizing an Iowa City home Oct. 29
- Burglarizing another Iowa City home on Thursday and taking unspecified items.
Craig faces 10 charges in all, including felonies for second- and third-degree burglary and three counts of forgery.
