An Iowa City woman was charged Friday with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon after striking a man with a baseball bat, police reported.
Amanda Lynn Stockstell, 36, arrived at her house, 1146 Hotz Ave., just before 2 p.m. on Friday to find her live-in partner having sex with a man, police reported.
Stockstell became angry and demanded the man leave the house, but he refused, police said.
“The defendant then armed herself with a baseball bat, swung and struck the victim at least three times with the bat in efforts to get the victim to leave the residence,” police reported.
Stockstell called 911 and told police that the man had a gun, which was later determined to be unfounded, police said.
The man complained of pain to his back and legs as a result of being hit with the bat.
Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon is an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison.
