IOWA CITY - Iowa City residents are encouraged to apply for three open seats on the Iowa City Public Library's board of trustees.
Applications are due April 1 and can be found on the city website or by stopping by the city clerk's office at city hall, 410 E. Washington St.
Appointments for the unpaid positions, which are open to any adult Iowa City resident, last six years. The terms begin July 1.
An email from board member David Hamilton indicates that, in accordance with the Iowa City Council's desire to increase diversity on city boards, the board is hopeful for a diverse pool of applicants.
'At the moment, the Board is all white and not particularly young, so I can say, as merely one board member, that here is an opportunity for helpful change, though that depends on a diverse group of applicants making themselves available,” Hamilton said in the email.
