Iowa City police have arrested a Coralville woman and are on the lookout for another woman in connection to a robbery and assault that took place in December.
According to a criminal complaint, Tatianna Washington, 21, and a woman who police have identified as 21-year-old Kortney Roe, went to the home of another woman at 945 Crosspark Avenue, Iowa City on the evening of Dec. 28 to demand payment for a broken window in Roe's car.
Police said Roe put her hands in the woman's pockets to attempt to take money from them, but the woman pulled away. Washington then allegedly held the victim while Roe hit the woman's mouth with what the victim identified as “brass knuckles.”
Roe then allegedly went to the victim's car and stole her purse, insulin monitor, needles and insulin before fleeing the scene with Washington. Police said the victim was “bleeding profusely” from the mouth when they arrived on scene. The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Iowa City for treatment and was referred to a specialist to fix her teeth, which police said were “folded back.”
As of Sunday morning, police were still searching for Roe, who has a warrant out for her arrest.
Washington was arrested on Thursday and was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony. She is being held in Johnson County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
