IOWA CITY — Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened near the intersection of Court and Linn Streets late Sunday morning.
Police say a man with a handgun attempted to rob another man around 11 a.m. after setting up a meeting on Craigslist to purchase a remote control car. A short struggle ensued and the suspect took off without stealing anything.
The victim received minor injuries to his head, but refused medical treatment according to Sgt. Denise Brotherton.
The suspect fled West from the intersection. He is described as a white male around 5 feet 4 inches weighing 300 pounds. The victim described the suspect as clean-shaven with shaggy brown hair. Police say he was wearing jeans and a brown or orange coat or sweat shirt at the time of the robbery.
He was last seen running westbound on Court Street near where it intersects Dubuque Street. Police searched the area, but were not able to find him.
Brotherton said while the suspect remains at large there isn't a threat to public safety because the robbery accorded as part of an arranged meeting.
