Tim Hull, a lifelong Iowa City resident, has announced his candidacy for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors.
Hull, 51, is an emergency Medical Services helicopter pilot and spent 10 years as a U.S. Army Military Policeman and pilot, which included deployment in Operation Desert Storm in Iraq, according to a Wednesday news release.
Hull has been involved in many local groups, including the Iowa City American Legion, American Legion Honor Guard and Johnson County Military Affairs Association.
'As a lifelong resident of Johnson County with many family ties, I will bring local values and ideals to the Board of Supervisors,” Hull said in the release.
In addition to his military background, Hull received an associate of science degree from Kirkwood Community College in 1989.
Hull's Wednesday announcement brings the total up to six Democrats vying for three seats on the board.
Incumbents Rod Sullivan and Lisa Green-Douglass are running for re-election. Newcomers Kurt Friese, Patricia Heiden and Jason Lewis are also vying for a seat on the five-member board.
Three Democrats will receive party nominations at the June 7 primary and head on to the November election.
No Republican candidates filed by Wednesday's deadline, but GOP or independent candidates can still file by convention or petition.
