A 42-year-old Iowa City woman is accused of hitting her 3-year-old daughter Thursday, knocking her to the ground.
According to a report, Latonya D. Mack, of the Dolphin Lake Point living community, 2401 Highway 6 East, was observed by a patrol officer at 9:12 a.m. taking a "full, hard swing" at the child hitting her on the left side of her face, in the 2400 block of Miami Drive.
Mack was immediately approached by the officer for questioning, police said, but she reportedly denied hitting her. Police said the incident was captured on the squad car's patrol camera.
The child appeared to have redness and swelling on her left cheek, and was treated on scene by medical response before she was removed by police.
Mack is charged with child endangerment, a Class D felony. She was taken to the Johnson County Jail Thursday, where she is being held on $15,000 cash bond.
