Iowa City men arrested for trying to buy drugs from undercover detectives

Two Iowa City men have been arrested after police say they met with undercover detectives posing as drug dealers to buy marijuana Thursday night.
Todd J. Schockemoehl, 27, of 720 N. Dubuque Street No. 11, was arrested on suspicion of solicitation to commit a felony after he allegedly sent text messages requesting $60 worth of marijuana to a phone that had been seized from a drug dealer by police after executing search warrant the night prior, police said.
According to police reports, detectives agreed to deliver the marijuana to Schockemoehl at the Chauncey Swam parking ramp in Iowa City. Schockemoehl was taken into custody after police say he paid the undercover detective $60 for the marijuana.
Schockemoehl remained at the Johnson County Jail on Friday.
Mokotsi B. Rukundo, 24, of 2631 Rushmore Drive, was also arrested on suspicion of soliciation to commit a felony. According to police, Rukundo sent a text message to the same drug dealer's telephone seized the police the night before.
Police say Rukundo requested one gram of marijuana and arranged to meet with a police officer posing as the drug dealer. After completing the transaction, Rukundo was immediately taken into custody, police said.
Soliciation to commit a felony is a class D felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and a $7,500 fine.
