Iowa City man's attempted murder trial rescheduled

The attempted murder trial of Raymond Spears was reset Thursday to Aug. 22 in Johnson County District Court.
Spears, 52, of Iowa City, is charged with attempted murder and willful injury causing serious injury. He is accused of stabbing another man in the back near downtown Iowa City in June. The alleged victim, who's name hasn't been released, had multiple stab wounds in his back.
Spears and the alleged victim are both transients, police said.
A pre-trial conference also was set Aug. 11.
