Iowa City man pleads not guilty in sexual abuse
An Iowa City man charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the Pedestrian Mall last month has pleaded not guilty.
Chad P. Anciaux, 23, of 58 Rita Lyn Court, is charged with third-degree sex abuse in the case. He entered his written plea Thursday.
Police said Anciaux gave the girl an unknown beverage that caused her to pass out, and when she regained consciousness, she was being sexually assaulted several blocks away from her previous location.
Anciaux told police the sex was consensual and he believed the girl was 15 years old.
