Iowa City man charged in spray painting incident

Iowa City police have arrested a man who allegedly spray painted the northbound lane of N. Dubuque St. while intoxicated.
On April 9, at approximately 4:08 a.m. police found Joseph J. Honsey, 23, of 308 N. Duqubue St., Iowa City spray painting the roadway outside his residence, according to police reports.
Upon noticing the police, Honsey dropped his spray can and ran into his residence. Police said they later made contact with Honsey who admited to spraying the road.
Honsey was told by police to remain in his residence and if he failed to do so, he would be placed under arrest for public intoxication.
At 6:25 a.m., police found Honsey outside spray painting, again. Police said then arrested Honsey for public intoxication.
Honsey was charged with third degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor, and public intoxication.
The cleanup of Honsey's paint job totaled $917.
