UPDATE: An Iowa City man was arrested early Sunday morning after he allegedly punched a police officer in the face outside a downtown Iowa City bar.
According to criminal complaints, officers responded to Pints, 118 S. Clinton Street, for a report of a fight outside the bar. While officers were interviewing a subject, a man, later identified as 24-year-old Dane F. Boeckenstedt, approached one of the uniformed officers and allegedly punched him in the face.
Police said Boeckenstedt then resisted arrest by “tensing up his arms and not complying with verbal commands.”
After investigation, officers found Boeckenstedt and his brother were involved in a physical altercation before police arrived.
Boeckenstedt was charged with assault on a peace officer, interference with official acts and public intoxication.
He was released on bond Sunday afternoon from the Johnson County Jail.
