UPDATE: An Iowa City man is accused of assault causing bodily injury after police say he swung a bar stool and hit a man in the face during a fight at the Fieldhouse bar early Sunday.
Iowa City Police officers were dispatched to the Fieldhouse, located at 118 S. Dubuque St., at approximately 1:40 a.m. Sunday for a reported assault. Witnesses told police Patrick R. Davis, 27, of 532 S. Dubuque St. No.1, had gotten into a fight and injured a man.
Records indicate that Davis had allegedly gotten into a fight with another man and was in the process of being removed from the bar when he grabbed a bar stool and swung it at the man.
Witnesses said the man ducked, and the stool hit another man in the face. The man lost consciousness after being struck and had a broken nose and other facial injuries, police said.
The injured man had trouble remembering the details of the incident once he was conscious, and was transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by ambulance.
Davis was taken to the Johnson County Jail Tuesday morning, and was later released on his own recognizance.
