An Iowa City man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly stabbing a woman at his residence, police said.
According to Iowa City police, a woman called 911 just before midnight, claiming she had been stabbed 45 minutes earlier. When police arrived at the apartment at 1545 Aber Ave., the woman told officers she had been stabbed several times with a kitchen knife and had "multiple lacerations consistent with knife wounds," according to a criminal report.
Officers were able to call the subject, Kevin White, 45, who had fled the scene, and took him into custody at a location north of the apartment building. According to the report, police found a kitchen knife in his sleeve that matched the woman's description of the knife used in the attack.
Police said White admitted to fighting with the victim, but denied using a knife.
White is charged with domestic abuse assault with display of a weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
