Iowa City ends west-side bus route

IOWA CITY – Iowa City has eliminated its “west side loop” bus route, effective immediately, because of declining ridership.
It was a once-per-day afternoon route during the school year, according to a news release. It ran from the downtown interchange to West High School and then on to the neighborhoods off of Mormon Trek Boulevard, Rohret Road and Sunset Street.
Four other bus routes – Melrose express, westside hospital, Plaen View and westwinds – serve the same areas, according to the city.
