Iowa City driver's license station closing for renovation next month

The Iowa Department of Transportation's Iowa City driver's license station at Eastdale Mall, 1700 S. First. Ave., will close on Friday, March 4 at noon for renovation, DOT officials said today.

The station will reopen Tuesday morning, March 8.

The station is being closed to reconfigure the business space to accommodate the new driver's licensing process, in which customers have their photos taken first, rather than at the end of the visit.

Individuals needing assistance while the Iowa City DL station is closed can go to any participating county treasurer's office or other Iowa DOT driver's license station located around the state. Information on the location and hours of Iowa's driver's license issuance sites is available at:
