Iowa City Chamber hosting multiple candidate events

IOWA CITY - The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two debates for City Council candidates in Coralville and Iowa City, on Oct. 16 and 23, respectively.

Each forum will be moderated by Ryan Sempf, director of government relations and public policy for the chamber. Candidates will be asked questions by the moderator that come from both the chamber and the audience.

The format will consist of a two-minute time limit for opening remarks, closing statements, and all questions posed to the candidates. The forum will focus on issues relevant to the business community, but will provide ample time for community members to pose their own questions to the candidates.

The Coralville forum is from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Coralville City Council Chambers, 1512 Seventh St.

The Iowa City forum is from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Iowa City Council Chambers, 410 E. Washington St.

The Chamber also is hosting a meet-and-greet session for gubernatorial candidate Cathy Glasson at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Oasis Falafel, 206 N. Linn St. in Iowa City.
