Iowa City business building destroyed in early-morning fire

An early-morning fire destroyed an outbuilding at an Iowa City business early this morning.
Fire crews were called to Friendly Farms, at 2040 Waterfront Drive, just before 2 a.m. and found flames showing from the front half of the outbuilding.
It took firefighters about two and a half hours to completely put the fire out. There were no injuries, but fire officials say the building was a total loss.
A nearby home sustained no damage.
Friendly Farms produces vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs for Iowa City-area customers, including the New Pioneer Co-Op.
