Iowa City Animal Services and the Iowa City Police Department are looking for public assistance to locate a cat that reportedly bit an Iowa City resident last week. Information is also being sought about the potential owner of this cat so rabies vaccination information can be gathered.
According to a city media release, the bite happened last Wednesday (Nov. 22) at roughly 11 a.m. near the 1100 block of Pickard Street. The bite victim was attempting to feed the cat a treat when the cat then bit him or her on both hands. The cat who bit the victim is described in the release as 'a domestic, shorthair black cat with a little white between the front legs and a little white on the front paws.”
According to the release, Iowa City Animal Services is seeking information regarding the rabies vaccination of the cat. They are urging anyone with information about the cat or its potential owner to contact Iowa City Animal Services directly at 319-356-5295 Ext. #7 or the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-6800.
