A Marion company plans to expand its data center in Akron, Ohio, as it responds to existing and future client demand.
Involta expects to add 26,520 square feet to the multiple tenant data center with improvements to energy efficiency and operational methods. The expansion will be connected to the existing data center facility through a hardened corridor.
Bruce Lehrman, Involta founder and chief executive officer, said in a news release that the expansion will serve Involta clients in Akron, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and surrounding markets.
The Akron data center houses computer systems and related services for health care organizations, businesses, government and educational institutions.
'The Ohio market continues to be an area of significant growth for our company,” Lehrman said. 'Our clientele and our workforce continue to grow to meet the needs of the information technology economy.”
In June, Involta announced it was acquiring the assets of Data Recovery Services, effectively doubling the size of the company. Involta assets include 13 data centers in Iowa, Arizona, Idaho, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania and over 5,500 route miles of fiber optic cable and nearly 200 employees, the majority of whom live in Ohio.
Involta, founded in 2007, was ranked number 2,794 on the 2015 Inc 5000 list of the fastest-growing, privately-owned companies with three-year revenue growth of 129 percent.
