Someone was struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon on the west side of Cedar Rapids, but police officials so far have declined to reveal what happened and who was involved.
The department posted an alert to Facebook about 4 p.m. Friday that reported a "pedestrian versus vehicle incident" at the intersection of Wiley Boulevard SW and Wilson Avenue SW, without reporting whether anyone involved was injured.
Part of the area was closed to traffic for about three hours while officers investigated. An image that accompanied the social media post appeared to show the intersection is monitored by a video surveillance camera.
Mike Battien, the Cedar Rapids public safety spokesperson, declined Monday to provide details because the investigation is pending.
"There are investigative things that are not in our hands, and you're in the middle of Christmas week," he said.
He said he did not know when more information about the incident would be publicly disclosed.
