Investigation continues for fatal Belle Plaine fire

The woman who died Saturday night in a house fire has been identified as Connie June Blomme.

Investigators haven't officially identified the victim until autopsy results confirm her identity, but information provided by her family to Hrabak Funeral Home in Belle Plaine confirmed identity.

Official identification may not be made until later this week, as an investigator with the State Fire Marshal's Office said dental records would be used to confirm identity.

Blomme and two dogs died in the fire at 202 11th St. when fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. A cause for the blaze has not been determined.

“With the damage that's there, I don't know if we'll ever determine the exact cause,” Belle Plaine Fire Chief Russ Spading said.

Investigators were reviewing the scene again Tuesday to search for clues.
