Immigration agents execute warrants at three sites in Vinton

VINTON – Local police and agents from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement executed search warrants today at two Chinese restaurant locations and a home in Vinton.
“This morning, special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) executed search warrants at two Peony Chinese Restaurants and a residence in Vinton, Iowa,” according to a statement out of the ICE office in Minneapolis. “For operational security reasons, as these warrants are part of an on-going investigation, no further comment is available.”
Chan Gia Duong, 43, a co-owner of Peony Family Restaurant in Vinton pleaded guilty in December 2010 to harboring illegal workers and filing a false tax return.
Phung Ca Long, 41, also a co-owner, pleaded guilty in November 2010 to conspiring to harbor illegal workers for commercial gain and making false statements to Medicaid.
No other details were released on the execution of the search warrants that occurred today.
