Home invasion reported in Iowa City

Armed intruders pepper-sprayed people inside an Iowa City apartment before robbing them during a home invasion late Wednesday, police said.

Iowa City police went to 590 Foster Rd., No. B6, just after 10 p.m., when the incident was reported. According to a police report, five men wearing black clothing and ski masks forced their way into the residence and three of them displayed guns.

Two of the three people at the apartment were pepper-sprayed. One person who was pepper-sprayed was also struck in the head with an unknown object and sustained a minor injury, police said. Paramedics treated that person at the scene.

Police said the suspects took cash and electronics from the residence and fled the area.
