Firefighters were still on scene more than seven hours after an overnight fire at a lumberyard in Fredericksburg.
The blaze, reported around 11:50 p.m. Thursday, damaged part of Superior Building Center/Fredericksburg Lumber, 125 S. Jefferson Ave. No one was injured, according to published reports.
Deputies shut down Highway 18 to protect fire hoses stretched across the road. It has since reopened.
Pam Williams at Fredericksburg Farmers Cooperative across the street said it appeared most of the damage was to the south side of the structure. A pickup was also reportedly destroyed in the flames.
Williams said a few firefighters were still on scene at 7 a.m., possibly watching for flare-ups. The cause of the fire had not been determined.
