Hiawatha police investigate death of 18-month-old

Hiawatha police are investigating the death of an 18-month-old baby girl.
The child, Kamryn Schlitter, died Sunday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Police Chief Dennis Marks said.
The girl had been hospitalized since the night of March 21, when officers responding to a medical call at 245 Clymer Rd. found her with “seizure-like symptoms,” according to Marks. The girl was transported first to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, then transferred to University Hospitals.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called in to assist the following day. No charges have been filed, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results, Marks said.
