COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Carlos Hyde ran for 149 yards and two touchdowns, Braxton Miller threw for 222 yards and two more touchdowns, and Ohio State beat Iowa, 34-24 on Saturday.
The game started well for the Hawkeyes, who opened the game with a 12-play, 5:37 touchdown drive. Iowa took a surprising 17-10 lead into halftime behind two touchdown throws from quarterback Jake Rudock -- a 2-yard toss to tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz and a 6-yard fade to receiver Kevonte Martin-Manley.
But Ohio State came out swinging after halftime, and their speed on offense proved too much to contain. Miller escaped what looked like a sure sack several times to scramble for first downs. Hyde scored a 19-yard touchdown run after being knocked backward three yards, staying on his feet, and diving into the end zone.
Iowa hung in the game with an 85-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jake Duzey, who finished the game with six catches for 138 yards. But other than that play, Iowa couldn't move the ball well enough in the second half to keep up with the Buckeyes.
Stay tuned tonight for full coverage from Columbus.
