The Circle of Ash Haunted Attraction, located at 412 Seventh Avenue SE in Downtown Cedar Rapids, is proving that their monsters, demons, and other scary creatures, have a heart, too. This Wednesday, October 20th, they will host their first annual “Special Needs Night”. “We know that there are people in our community who would enjoy our attraction, but may not be able to handle it on a normal night.” Explains Ian Austin, Technical Director of the Circle of Ash.
The “Special Needs Night” will be essentially the normal show with some modifications in the execution. “We are turning off all of the strobe lights, and any other lights that blink, flash, or flicker.
Also, our actors will be toning down their in-your-face, high-startle acting. Other than that, the people who come through that night will experience the things that anyone else might experience.” Says Austin, when asked what may be different about this night. “Also, our haunted attraction is, and always will be, in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act to allow anyone who wants to come, to be able to enjoy what we do,” continues Austin.
The Circle of Ash Haunted Attraction is a theatrical performance style haunted attraction where guests participate in a self-guided journey through the attraction. During the performance guests meet characters and experience a storyline that both scares and entertains. The attraction is composed entirely of volunteers, and hosts several live performance runs per year.
