HIAWATHA — The Hawkeye Area Community Action Program has tapped Matt Majeski to serve as its next chief executive officer.
Majeski, who currently serves as HACAP’s chief operating officer, will assume his new role on Jan. 1. He succeeds outgoing CEO Jane Drapeaux, who is retiring next month after more than 20 years with the Hiawatha-based nonprofit.
A HACAP press release states Majeski was selected for the role because of his strategic thinking, operational excellence and “deep-rooted commitment to helping individuals and communities thrive.”
“Matt’s deep understanding of our mission, combined with his extensive leadership experience and strong community partnerships, make him the ideal choice to lead HACAP into its next chapter,” Drapeaux wrote in the release.
Prior to his time with HACAP, Majeski served as service area manager for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, where he oversaw operations across 17 counties in Eastern Iowa. His resume further includes stints at Linn County Public Health and several other community-based organizations.
He is also a retired lieutenant colonel from the Army National Guard, where he specialized in medical operations and operational planning.
In his role as CEO, he will oversee all HACAP operations and initiatives. The organization is a regional community action agency that serves nine counties in Eastern Iowa through a diverse array of services for low-income individuals and families.
