An Iowa City woman has pleaded guilty to assault after becoming angry when refused service at a local salon.
Anna Katherine Bacon-Silveira, 39, of 608 Normandy Dr., was arrested Monday after she became hostile with a staff member at Zender's Salon and Spa, 4 S. Linn St.
Authorities say Bacon-Silveira was intoxicated when she went to Zender's at 1:07 p.m. Monday for a bikini wax. She became upset when she was refused service and struck an employee in the head and snapped a towel at her, according to police reports.
Bacon-Silveira fled the business on foot but was located running behind the Iowa City Police Department.
Authorities noted that Bacon-Silveira smelled heavily of alcohol and had poor balance, red and watery eyes, and difficulty communicating when arrested.
She was released Tuesday after pleading guilty to the charges against her and paying a fine.
