Officials with the Great Jones County Fair in Monticello are hoping that a sold-out Lady Antebellum concert will lead other possible fairgoers to “Pack the Park” in Monticello tonight.
Although the grandstand area where concerts are held has reserved seating for 8,000 guests, fair spokesman Andy Anderson said today that at least that many more can see the concert from the hillside for just the price of a fair admission ticket.
“They can put a blanket down or bring something to sit on and see the show and hear it,” he said.
Entertainers will have a bit more room to move this year, too, with the addition of a new stage. Anderson said the stage gives bands and entertainers an extra 20 feet for equipment and other items.
“They bring a lot of equipment and we just haven't had the room for it all because the stage wasn't big enough,” Anderson said.
Lady Antebellum and Phil Vasser will be the first to use the stage with their concert tonight. Vasser takes the stage at 8 p.m. and headliner Lady Antebellum will follow.
