Gazette Voters Guide coming Tuesday
Oct. 8, 2010 1:34 pm
For several election years The Gazette has published a Voters Guide, with a rundown of the people seeking key offices and what those candidates' positions are on selected issues. We are doing it again this year.
Of course, you are digital, otherwise you would not be reading this blog. We have an online guide that you can access here. It is user friendly.
The printed 2010 Voters Guide will be inserted into the Tuesday, Oct. 12, Gazette. We have surveyed candidates and compiled their answers in this handy resource. The guide covers the state executive offices up for grabs, led by the gubernatorial race, plus state legislative races of interest in the Linn and Johnson counties and the races for U.S. Senate and U.S. House seats.
The guide also has primers on key issues facing voters: whether three Iowa Supreme Court justices up for retention votes should be returned to their positions and whether Republicans will seize control of the Iowa Legislature.
The Voters Guide was published closer to the election in previous years. But people increasingly are voting early or by absentee ballot instead of waiting until Election Day, which is Nov. 2 this year. We're getting the newspaper version of the guide to you earlier in the election process because of that, and because we want the guide to be useful as you sort through your options.
