Average gasoline prices in Iowa rose less than a cent per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.40 per gallon, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,036 gas outlets in Iowa.
The national average also has increased less than cent per gallon in the last week to $2.43 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
Pump prices on Sunday were $1.15 per gallon lower than the same day a year ago, but are 8.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 3 cents per gallon during the last month and stands $1.13 per gallon lower than on this date a year ago.
'Though last week, many areas didn't see much fluctuation, there certainly were some outliers as there almost always tend to be week after week,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst, in a news release.
'Florida, Ohio and Indiana saw notable jumps at the pump, while Michigan, California and Oregon saw the largest declines. Overall, the national average paints a quiet picture with prices virtually unchanged.
'There still could be some unexpected surprises at the pump in the weeks ahead.”
Will gasoline be heading closer to $3.00 soon? (Stephen Mally/The Gazette)
