Prices at the gas pump are rising again across Iowa, reflecting an upward trend in the value of crude oil.
Average retail gasoline prices in Iowa rose 6.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.53 per gallon on Sunday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,036 gas stations and convenience stores in the state. That compares with the national average, which increased 8.5 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.62 per gallon.
Including the change in gas prices in Iowa during the past week, prices Sunday were $1.02 per gallon lower than the same day a year ago and 12.3 cents per gallon higher than a month ago. The national average has increased 22.7 cents per gallon during the last month, which is $1.06 per gallon lower than this day a year ago.
Nearly a dozen states saw a double-digit gain in average gasoline prices over the last week, led by California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon and Delaware. At the other end of the spectrum, all but nine states are seeing current gasoline prices over $1 per gallon lower than a year ago.
