Gable to be honored at this year's FRY Fest
Iowa wrestling legend Dan Gable will be honored at this years FRY Fest. The third annual event aims to “celebrate all that is Hawkeye.”
The event, put on by the Iowa City Coralville Area Convention and Vistors Bureau, along with the University of Iowa Athletic Department, will be Friday, September 2.
The organizations have also planned a celebration for Gable that will take place in the the Coral Ballroom of the Coralville Marriott Hotel at noon on September 2.
“When you officially retire, people start throwing a lot more honors at you, so it's kind of humbling,” Gable said. “Because a lot of my victories and wins were a few years ago.”
The musical act for the FRY Fest concert has yet to be announced. Leaders with the Convention and Visitors Bureau said it will be a country artist, someone Gable “will enjoy.”
